Ignition delay times of methane/diethyl ether (DEE) blends measured in a rapid compression machine (RCM)

چکیده
Diethyl ether (DEE) is an interesting species for combustion at least two reasons: On the one hand, it used as a kind of ”worst case” reference substance studies concerned with prevention accidental ignition events. other also candidate bio-fuel. For this reason, in work, auto-ignition different /DEE-mixtures (90/10 and 95/5 mol-% /DEE) are studied rapid compression machine (RCM). In RCM, gas mixture compressed piston–cylinder device up to 20 bar held under isochoric conditions top dead center. Auto-ignition occurs after delay time (IDT). IDTs measured temperatures ranging between 515 925 K, both, stoichiometric fuel-rich mixtures (equivalence ratio ?=2). The experimental data compared results simulations involving detailed chemistry, well fuels investigated same RCM (results from literature).

Optimization of a Multi-step Model for the Auto-ignition of Dimethyl Ether in a Rapid Compression Machine
The research presented here describes the numerical optimization of a multi-step ignition model to predict the auto-ignition of dimethyl ether (DME) in a rapid compression machine. The multi-step modeling concept is aimed at capturing the ignition behavior of new oxygenated fuel blends, where detailed or reducedmechanisms are not available. Experimental data for the ignition ofDME/O2/N2mixtures...
متن کاملCorrelation of Ignition Delay for Various Methane Based Fuel Blends
It is very well known that the efficiency of an SI engine is limited by knock occurrence. As a compromise between knocking combustion avoidance and an accepted level of efficiency, an engine is typically operated at very close to the knocking boundary. However, the position of an engine knocking boundary is shifted if the fuel composition changes. The description of this abnormal combustion is ...
متن کاملAutoignition of Binary Fuel Blends of n-Butanol and n-Heptane in a Rapid Compression Machine
Autoignition of binary blends of n-butanol and n-heptane was studied in a rapid compression machine at an equivalence ratio of 0.4 and a compressed pressure of 20 bar with the compressed temperature varying from 700 K to 907 K. Within the temperature range covered in this study, no cool flame or negative temperature coefficient behavior was observed for neat n-butanol. With the presence of n-he...
متن کاملAn experimental and modeling study of iso-octane ignition delay times under homogeneous charge compression ignition conditions
Autoignition of iso-octane was examined using a rapid compression facility (RCF) with iso-octane, oxygen, nitrogen, and argon mixtures. The effects of typical homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) conditions on the iso-octane ignition characteristics were studied. Experimental results for ignition delay times, τ ign, were obtained from pressure time-histories. The experiments were cond...
